CONCENTRÉ DÉCALCIFIANT ULTRA-RÉPARATEUR HAIR TREATMENT
A dual-action decalcifying and repairing pre-shampoo hair treatment for damaged hair.
Removes calcium and reinforces hair strength, leaving it stronger, smoother, and shinier.
The first pre-shampoo treatment that removes calcium and fully repairs all types of damaged hair.
Hard water with calcium can further damage already delicate dry, over-processed or bleached hair.
Because it’s more porous, damaged hair absorbs 3 times more calcium than natural hair.
This treatment’s concentration of pure acids has a dual action: it decalcifies hair from this calcium overdose, and repairs it from the inside out, restoring hair strength, and reversing its stiff, dull appearance.
With its transparent gel texture, this brilliant hair saviour dramatically repairs persistent damage, reconnecting broken keratin links to reinforce hair strength and structure.
Hair is left stronger, healthier-looking, and shinier – as if renewed.
Leave on Kérastase Concentré Décalcifiant Ultra-Réparateur without rinsing, and layer with Kérastase Première Bain Décalcifiant Réparateur for extra decalcifying and repairing action.

Why is calcium bad for your hair?
Calcium itself isn’t inherently bad for your hair. The issue is more about how calcium builds up on your hair and scalp, not calcium as a nutrient.
🧴 1. Calcium buildup from hard water
If you live in an area with hard water, the water contains high levels of calcium (and magnesium). Over time, this calcium can deposit onto your hair shaft and scalp.
That buildup leads to:
-
Dullness – calcium forms a coating that prevents light from reflecting off the hair’s surface.
-
Dryness and brittleness – it makes it harder for moisture and conditioner to penetrate the cuticle.
-
Breakage – the hair becomes stiff and less elastic.
-
Scalp flaking or irritation – the minerals can dry out the scalp, mimicking dandruff.
🧬 2. Calcium inside the follicle (rare but possible)
Excess calcium in the body, or in scalp tissues, can theoretically lead to calcification around hair follicles. That can reduce blood flow and nutrient delivery to the follicle — which is sometimes linked to thinner, weaker hair growth.
This is more speculative and usually seen in cases of imbalance (not from diet alone).
💧 3. Calcium interferes with products
When calcium ions bind to surfactants (the cleansing agents in shampoos), it can make shampoos less effective — meaning hair isn’t fully cleansed, leaving residue and product buildup.
🩷 How to fix or prevent calcium buildup
-
Use a clarifying or chelating shampoo once a week (look for ingredients like citric acid).
-
Rinse with filtered or distilled water if your tap water is hard.
-
Install a shower filter — it helps remove calcium and other minerals.
-
Fusio-Dose or similar salon treatments (like those from Kérastase) can help restore smoothness and shine after mineral buildup.
